After a long time, I am going to write a theoretical topic which adds some different knowledge in our DBA career. I hope it will help our viewers to have deep knowledge about the database. Today I am going to explain about benchmarking in the database. Being a part of IT we have little idea about benchmarking. This concept you in IT at a different level.

What is Benchmarking?

Benchmarking is the process of comparing and measuring your organization against others, anywhere in the world, to gain information on philosophies, practices, and measures that will help your organization take action to improve its performance.

Components of Benchmarking are mention below:-

  • Specifications.
  • Control logic
  • Implementation

When a database becomes huge, query performance can suffer. With the help of benchmarking, we can solve the following issues.

  • Transactions per unit time.
  • Response time, the scalability.
  • Support for concurrency.

With help of Oracle Performance Tuning and Benchmarking Oracle corporation provides there customers consistent, optimal performance of Oracle Databases by proactively identifying and addressing issues before they become critical.
